My great-grandfather, Rev. Rufus J. Tillman, Sr, was recorded as 27 years of age of the 1920 census. This is incorrect. He was born on the 10th of January in 1897. On the date of enumeration, he would have been 23 years of age.

I have been unable to locate Robert J. Goode, Sr. on any 1920 Census for Pools Hill, Troup County; Franklin, Heard County; and Dallas, Heard County – all in Georgia. I know they had to live somewhere. After all, Cora was three years old in 1920, and my grandmother, Leola, was two years old. This will involve much more in-depth research.

My grandfather, Lish Askew, was only 12 years old on the date of enumeration for this census year. Life is indeed fleeting, but witnessing just how fleeting it is on paper just makes me want to live my life out loud and regret nothing. Ten years after this enumeration, granddaddy was married and the head of his own household. What dreams, hopes, and wishes flowed through the mind of this 12 year old boy who was going to school and working as a farm laborer in the Jim Crow South?
